Addition of Dutch travel technology group also broadens Amadeus’ Low Cost Carrier distribution offering in the region
Vilvoorde, Belgium, 01 September, 2015: Amadeus IT Group, the leading technology provider to the travel industry, has today announced that it has acquired Pyton Communications BV, the Netherlands-based leisure travel technology specialist.
Pyton, which develops and sells online booking engines for the global travel industry, a leader in the leisure travel sector with its Waverunner product where its customers include both online and off-line travel agents. In addition its ‘Smart Shopping’ online dynamic packaging product positions the company well in a key development area for the industry.
Pyton, which has been in partnership with Amadeus Benelux in the leisure travel sector since early 2013, has also enabled travel agents to broaden their offering to include the key Low Cost Carrier segment with the Elsy Arres solution.
“The leisure segment is an increasingly important industry for Amadeus and the addition of Pyton’s products and deep management expertise will give us the opportunity to improve our offering to our customers and help them develop their business,” said Luc Pannecoeck, General Manager Amadeus Benelux. “Pyton’s products are scalable and can be customised to suit the needs of different markets, and will enable us to strengthen our business beyond the Netherlands, which is a technologically advanced market.”

Following the acquisition, Luc Pannecoeck has been nominated as Managing Director of Pyton, next to his responsibilities of General Manager Amadeus Benelux. Peter Boneschansker will continue to lead Pyton as General Manager, reporting to Luc.
Pyton, which is based in Weert in the Netherlands, serves a wide range of online and off-line customers in the region including Cheaptickets, Fareportal and D-RT Groep ( D-Reizen and Vakantiexpert ). It has a workforce of 31 employees based in the Netherlands, Germany and Poland.
