Reduced infrastructure strain for airlines and efficient travel seller search process as result

To help solve one of the biggest hurdles in NDC adoption - managing search traffic at scale - Amadeus has made available Advanced Airline Profile, a smart, machine-learning powered filtering solution within the Amadeus Travel Platform.


As NDC volumes grow, airline systems are increasingly overwhelmed by search queries, of which a large portion can be irrelevant or inactionable. This has led some carriers to scale back their NDC ambitions or impose ‘look-to-book’ limits on travel agencies. By applying dynamic and sophisticated machine learning logic and advanced parameters, the Amadeus Advanced Airline Profile intelligently filters out irrelevant requests from travel sellers before polling the airlines system.


This significantly reduces unproductive traffic and makes airlines see a significantly lower look-to-book ratio on their systems, and reduced infrastructure strain. Airlines can therefore focus on high-value opportunities, and travel sellers benefit from a more efficient search process, enabling them to support growing volumes and expand their business.



Early results show unproductive traffic reduced by up to more than 70%, depending on the airline profile, without compromising on the offer quality.


Deployment is underway across all Amadeus NDC airlines. Implementation is seamless and requires no action from customers.


Amadeus Advanced Airline Profile is one component in a suite of solutions to improve search efficiency and optimize traffic management on the Amadeus Travel Platform. The product will be available by default to all airline and travel seller customers. The gradual roll-out has started and is expected to be fully finalized across all NDC airlines by Q1 2026.
