Amadeus set to appoint Carol Borg as new CFO

Borg was previously Group CFO at QinetiQ Group PLC, the multinational defense technology and security company listed in London, UK

Australian-native Borg has 30+ years of experience in a range of senior and strategic financial roles. She will be based in Madrid, Spain and will officially join Amadeus on May 5 this year

Amadeus today announces the appointment of Carol Borg as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective May 5.

Borg brings to Amadeus a wealth of international experience as a Group CFO, with an enviable 30-year track record of driving transformational change in some of the most innovative technology-led organizations in the world.


Borg is a proven expert at turning financial strategy and vision into action and is well-respected within the global financial community for her experience in managing complex organizations in international environments. She has held senior finance roles in a variety of sectors throughout her extensive career, including energy, renewables, and defense. Borg also holds a Non-Executive Board Director and Audit Committee Chair position in a UK-listed company called Ricardo PLC.


Borg joins Amadeus following her last international executive role in QinetiQ Group PLC, a FTSE250 multi-country defense and security company based in the UK, where she developed her professional career as Group CFO. Responsible for all finance and governance activities, Borg oversaw consistent and profitable revenue growth supported also by acquisitions.


Prior to that, she was the Chief Financial Officer at Lightsource bp Renewal Energy in the UK, a global market leader in the development, acquisition and long-term management of large scale solar projects and smart energy solutions. Borg oversaw the maturation and transformation of the company’s finance and governance processes and capabilities which recently resulted in bp fully acquiring the organization.

As well as her time most recently at QinetiQ and Lightsource bp, Borg spent some 10 years at renewable energy leader VESTAS, in various senior finance roles, including Head of Strategy, Risk & Governance, Vice President of Consolidation, Planning and Reporting, and Senior Vice President and Regional Chief Finance Officer for Southern Europe, MENA, and Latin America.


Borg, who is a native of Australia, has previously lived and worked in four different countries including Spain, the UK, Denmark, and Australia. She will be based in Madrid for this role reporting directly to Amadeus President and CEO Luis Maroto. She will also take a position on the company’s Executive Committee.
