Cape Verde airports give travelers extra time to enjoy the islands thanks to the new mobile check-in service

Travelers on the islands can now enjoy a luggage-free experience from hotel to airport terminal with the power of Amadeus Airport Common Use Service (ACUS) Mobile solution.

Every minute counts when on holiday. So when it comes to the last day, the extra couple of minutes or hours you gain from more efficient airport check-in and bag-drop means everything.

This is all possible thanks to an extended partnership between Amadeus and ASA Cape Verde Airports to implementAmadeus’ Airport Common Use Service (ACUS) Mobile solution at two of Cape Verde’s largest international airports, Sal and Boa Vista.

With this cloud-based solution, travelers are able to check-in and drop their bags off at hotels in Cape Verde and head to the airport terminal luggage-free when ready. Boarding passes and bag tags are issued by Cabo Verde Handling agents in travelers’ holiday resorts, giving them more time to explore or relax at the hotel. Bags are then transported to the airport by the ground handling firm.

“We are pleased to extend our partnership with ASA and Cabo Verde Handling to improve the experience of travelers on the islands. With the steady growth of tourism in Cape Verde, it is important to simplify airport infrastructures to welcome new passengers” said John Jarrell, Head of Airport IT at Amadeus. “The ability to have a luggage-free journey from hotel to airport is a significant advantage for passengers and is just one of the ways in which both airports and customers can benefit from our ACUS agreement.”

In 2016, Amadeus implemented its ACUS common use solution at Cape Verde’s four international airports to revolutionize check-in systems. ACUS Mobile has now been added as an additional solution and service and comes with separate Amadeus ACUS mobile hardware devices that are used locally at Cape Verde hotels and resorts.

Working with Amadeus has helped us to increase our airports’ productivity in the most cost-effective way and with ACUS Mobile, we can now make Cape Verde an even easier place to travel to and from, with smooth check-in facilities from the hotels in our islands. Taking pressure off the terminals and improving the passenger experience is a win-win situation for us” comments Mr Jorge Benchimol Duarte, CEO of ASA Cape Verde Airports.

ACUS Mobile operates in the cloud and is an extension of Amadeus’ ACUS common use system which over 30 airports have now adopted.
