Amadeus today announces the appointment of Rongrong (Vvivi) Hu as Global Head and Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy, effective 1 January 2026.
Hu brings extensive experience in strategy, planning, and innovation roles to Amadeus, across multiple geographies around the world, with a varied and broad career to date taking in a unique 360 degree view of life in the technology industry: as investor, Board member, entrepreneur and also as C-level executive.
Hu’s experience specifically includes a number of roles at multi-national U.S e-commerce firm eBay, driving growth both organically and inorganically, including Chief Strategy Officer for Greater China where she was in charge of strategy, marketing, product and analytics functions, as well as Greater China Import P&L. She subsequently took a post as Chief of Staff, and later Senior Director of Innovation, M&A, and Business Development for the EMEA region where she oversaw operating governance and drove multiple growth initiatives.
Since leaving eBay, Rongrong Hu has focused on applying her expertise through several Board roles. She serves as a Non-executive Director and Member of the Nomination & Compensation Committee for DocMorris AG, a Swiss-listed online pharmacy and healthcare ecosystem business. She also holds a position as a Non-executive Director at the Swiss asset holding company People & Places AG and its portfolio companies.
In addition to her corporate governance work, Hu is an accomplished venture investor in the technology industry. She has a proven track record of both investing in and incubating new ventures, including an omnichannel e-commerce business and an advisory firm enabling large corporations to successfully incubate innovative business models.
Earlier in her career, Hu served as a Senior Adviser at CITIC Capital, where she provided counsel on investment and buyout transactions. Her career also includes time as a management consultant at firms like McKinsey and BearingPoint, delivering strategic growth counsel to multinational clients in sectors such as technology and travel.
A fluent speaker of English, Mandarin Chinese and German, Hu holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and is a Graduate of Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China with degrees in Telecommunications Engineering and International Economics and Trading. Hu has won a range of industry awards and recognitions throughout her career: she was named as an Alibaba Global Top 100 e-Commerce Entrepreneur in 2011 and the China role model in the P&G SKII Change Destiny campaign in 2015. She was also variously a guest columnist of Forbes China and is the published author of a book on continuous development.
