Amadeus appoints a new Managing Director for Scandinavia

Johan Nordqvist has been appointed to take on the regional leadership for Amadeus in Scandinavia in addition to his role as Vice President for Airlines in the Nordics & Baltics.

Johan Nordqvist brings more than 25 years of experience managing organizations across various industries in Scandinavia, UK, US and Asia Pacific. Based in Stockholm, he will also manage Amadeus’ offices in Copenhagen and Oslo. Johan has gained extensive experience having worked for Amadeus in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region since 2004 where he held various commercial leadership roles both on the travel agency and airline partner sides. Before relocating to Sweden, in his role as Vice President, APAC Partner Markets, he was responsible for managing the relationships with Amadeus’ distribution partners in APAC, more specifically in the Indian Subcontinent, Southeast Asia, South Korea and Mongolia representing more than half of the region.

Prior to joining Amadeus, Johan has held various management positions within travel, retail and digital commerce businesses based in Sweden, Denmark, UK, USA and Thailand.

Johan Nordqvist replaces Ulla Persson, who after 11 years at Amadeus in Scandinavia has made the personal decision to retire at the end of June. Ulla Persson has worked for Amadeus in various commercial leadership roles. For the past one and a half years she has been the Country Manager for Scandinavia.

Commenting on the new appointment, Ulla Persson, Amadeus Associate Director, Business Travel in Northern, Eastern, Central, Southern Europe said, “Johan fits perfectly into this role with all his prior experience in travel, distribution and digital commerce businesses spanning most continents of the globe. Johan has a strong strategic and commercial leadership profile and I feel confident that he will support our customers and employees in Scandinavia in an excellent manner.”

Johan Nordqvist is now managing the relationships with Amadeus’ airline partners in the Nordics and Baltics, securing and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships across the region. As the new Managing Director in Scandinavia, he will work together with regional commercial heads to identify local business opportunities and strengthen relationships with customers across business and leisure travel communities.

Speaking about his appointment, Johan Nordqvist said, “I’m excited to take on this new role, to continue to drive the growth of the Amadeus business across the wider region. The global experience I bring with me from my years in the Asia Pacific region understanding both the travel channels and airline perspectives, will be an asset to supporting all our customers in the Scandinavian market."
