The engineering site will focus on developing cutting-edge travel technology solutions. And will also allow Amadeus to expand its headcount in Colombia.
Amadeus has announced the expansion of its engineering site in Bogotá, Colombia, reinforcing its commitment to technology and development. This strategic move underscores Amadeus' dedication to innovation, positioning it as a key player in the company's global network and enhancing Amadeus' existing products and services in Colombia and the Americas.
Amadeus has increased the number of employees in Bogotá between 10-15% in the last couple of years, reaching +600 employees by March 2025. 75% of those employees are focused on technology and development. It also had a 10-15% YoY growth in investment during the last 4 years and doubled its office space during the last year.
"With this engineering site, we are not only increasing our capacity but also reinforcing our commitment to enhance Amadeus’ technological expertise in the country, in addition to the travel industry. Our goal is to create technology that offers a pleasant and frictionless travel experience, and this investment in Bogotá is a significant step towards achieving that mission." said Cristian Quintero, Site Leader Bogotá.
The Bogotá site engineers will be responsible of developing cutting-edge technology solutions for airlines, low-cost carriers (LCC), agencies, mobility, airport and hotel operations, and improve existing products and services in both Colombia and the Americas. It also includes a global engineering team which will implement and manage the technology infrastructure where products are developed, making it one of the most important sites for Amadeus globally.
This expansion not only leverages Amadeus' technology footprint but also allows engineers to work with Amadeus' global hubs in Bangalore, Nice, and Manila, extending coverage for global operations.
“Amadeus aims to be recognized as the technology employer of choice in Colombia, harnessing the country's vast pool of talent in engineering and technology. We offer a reliable company that works with the latest technology, provides international exposure, experts, and a global DNA. And we have been also certified as a Great Place to Work for two consecutive years.” said Quintero.
Bogota’s engineering site will play a crucial role in driving our global R&D efforts and expects to gradually increase its development until reaching +3000 engineering positions in the next 5-7 years. Amadeus is transforming travel by leveraging technologies and will continue to be at the forefront of the travel technology industry in Colombia and the Americas region.
