New technologies will help the airline recover from the effects of the global pandemic and take advantage of emerging opportunities for growth
Air Burkina, an airline with a 54-year heritage based in Burkina Faso, has selected theAmadeus Airline Platformto help it adapt to a changing industry. Seizing the opportunity to completely overhaul its airline processes, Air Burkina has chosen to deploy Amadeus’ suite of airline technology as the backbone of its business covering reservations, inventory, ticketing, payments and departure control.
In addition, Air Burkina has agreed to implementAmadeus’ Digital Experience Suite
to enable travelers to enjoy a best-in-class online retailing experience for shopping and booking flights.
The past 18 months have seen a period of unprecedented change in the global travel industry. But with this change has come an opportunity to rethink operations and make far-reaching decisions that will help Air Burkina take advantage of the anticipated recovery for its long-term growth and prosperity.
"For more than five decades, Air Burkina has established itself as a popular carrier, connecting communities from its hub in Ouagadougou to thriving destinations throughout Africa and beyond thanks to interline partnerships," said Blaise Sanou, CEO, Air Burkina. "The recent disruption in traffic and travel patterns due to COVID-19 has proved extremely challenging, as is the case for other carriers. As a company, we decided to create stability out of unpredictability by working with Amadeus to implement a new technology platform that benefits our customers and staff. We believe that increasing the level of automation in our operations will create efficiencies, increase sales, and help us deliver a quality experience for all."
"We are thrilled to have successfully migrated Air Burkina to the Amadeus Airline Platform," added Maher Koubaa, EVP Airlines Middle East, Turkey & Africa, Amadeus. "Air Burkina is the third airline customer in Central Western Africa to have chosen to migrate toAmadeus’ passenger service system
(PSS) in just the past two years. Our team is immensely proud and excited to be working with Air Burkina to help the airline deliver a world-class operational environment that results in an excellent passenger experience. This includes the ability to seamlessly interline with key airline partners, which is vital for success."
Air Burkina’s migration to the Amadeus Airline Platform will be followed by the implementation of Amadeus Departure Control systems (DCS) due to come online in July. An enhanced customer loyalty management system is also planned for the end of the year.
