Russia’s fourth largest airport improves how it serves passengers and handles flights with Amadeus Altéa DCS for ground handlers
Pulkovo Saint Petersburg Airport in Russia, operated by Northern Capital Gateway LLC, served approximately 20 million passengers in 2019 with a long-term plan to consistently improve the experience it offers to passengers. Pulkovo is taking the next step with an upgrade toAmadeus Altéa Departure Control for Ground Handlers . The Amadeus approach is based on flexible Software-as-a-Service, so each airline no longer needs to deploy its own system locally at Pulkovo airport. Instead, ground handlers can now serve any airline through Amadeus using a single, modern, interface. This removes the need for agents to switch between tens of different airline systems; including long training cycles, inefficient day-to-day operations and the inability for agents to serve passengers according to the unique requirements of each airline.
With the transition to the new technology come multiple benefits. For example, disruption situations can be managed more effectively between airlines and the airport thanks to the system's enhanced functionality.
Leonid Sergeev, CEO, Northern Capital Gateway comments: “We’re committed to being a passenger experience leader within the industry. Right now, there is more uncertainty and disruption than ever before, so our ground handling agents need a system that helps them identify and address any service incidents. Amadeus is helping to simplify our IT set-up with modern technology that supports our passenger experience strategy.”
Yannick Beunardeau, Vice President EMEA, Airport IT, Amadeus adds: “Pulkovo should be commended for its commitment to improving the passenger experience. This technology refresh helps the airport to reduce costs whilst positioning Pulkovo to emerge strongly as demand returns.”
Pulkovo’s agents also gain access to improved flight management capabilities, including highly accurate ‘weight and balance’ forecasts, which ensure bags are correctly positioned in the aircraft hold for optimal fuel conservation.
