Amadeus is expanding the capabilities available through the iHotelier® Central Reservations System (CRS), enabling hotels to offer embedded travel protection within the booking experience, enhance guest confidence and unlock new ancillary revenue opportunities.
Amadeus Travel Protection, already deployed with travel sellers and some of the world’s largest airlines, will now be available to hotels to offer directly to travelers through iHotelier. The protection capabilities help travelers gain greater confidence at the point of purchase while creating an additional revenue opportunity for hoteliers. Because protection is embedded within the booking experience, hotels can introduce these services without needing to build, manage or administer a travel protection program themselves.
“We are continuing to expand Amadeus Travel Protection beyond our traditional customer base, allowing hotels to create more value from the booking experience while responding to the evolving needs of their guests. Bringing Amadeus Travel Protection into iHotelier gives hoteliers a new way to offer travelers greater confidence when booking, while creating additional revenue opportunities without adding operational complexity. It also brings a proven Amadeus capability into hospitality, connecting more of the traveler journey.”
Peter Altmann Vice President, Mobility and Travel Protection, Amadeus
Amadeus Travel Protection is launching in iHotelier with two complementary providers: Sensible Weather, which provides automated, parametric Weather Guarantees that compensate travelers when qualifying weather conditions impact their stay, and battleface, which provides embedded travel insurance including emergency medical and cancellation coverage.
With Sensible Weather, guests still travel as planned and receive automatic compensation if qualifying weather conditions occur during their stay, eliminating paperwork, claims submissions and long waiting periods. Hotels offering the Sensible Weather Guarantee receive a revenue share for every Guarantee sold, and have reported an 11% average increase in booking conversion from the integrated offer, and a 2% reduction in cancellations. Guests may receive up to a 100% refund when qualifying disruptive weather impacts their stay.
“Guest expectations continue to evolve, and travelers increasingly value products that remove uncertainty from their planning. The Weather Guarantee allows hotels to offer an additional layer of reassurance, knowing that if adverse weather impacts their trip, guests are automatically compensated. This not only helps deliver a better guest experience but also encourages booking confidence and loyalty, creating tangible value for both guests and hotel businesses.”
Nick Cavanaugh CEO and Founder, Sensible Weather
Through battleface, travelers can choose insurance protection for unexpected events including trip cancellations, travel delays, medical emergencies and lost baggage. Beyond insurance coverage, travelers have access to 24/7 emergency assistance, helping them find medical care, coordinate treatment and navigate unexpected situations while away from home. With insurance solutions available to eligible travelers from the US, UK, EU, Canada and Mexico, battleface combines flexible insurance options with practical support when travelers need it most.
“Travel insurance should be easy to buy and relevant to the trip you’re taking. Working with Amadeus allows us to offer travelers insurance options directly within the hotel booking experience, making it easier to find protection that suits their needs. For hotels, it’s a simple way to offer something useful to their guests while creating an additional revenue opportunity.”
Sasha Gainullin CEO, battleface
By bringing Amadeus Travel Protection into iHotelier, together with the new complementary providers, Amadeus is bringing an established solution into its hotel technology ecosystem. Hotels can offer multiple protection options through a single framework, with automated weather guarantees and traditional travel insurance available today.
For hoteliers, these new capabilities support two sides of the booking experience: giving travelers greater peace of mind when making their plans while creating new opportunities for hotels to generate ancillary revenue and enhancing the direct booking experience. Travel protection services and claims are managed directly by the provider, reducing the operational burden on hotel teams.
The expansion reinforces Amadeus’ continued development of iHotelier and expands the range of services hospitality customers can offer travelers as part of the booking experience.
