British Airways has completed its migration to Amadeus Codeshare enabling it to support ten partner airlines including Aer Lingus, American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, LAN Airlines, SN Brussels and Qantas.
Madrid, Spain, 8 May, 2006: British Airways has completed its migration to Amadeus Codeshare enabling it to support ten partner airlines including Aer Lingus, American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, LAN Airlines, SN Brussels and Qantas. The seamless migration to Amadeus Codeshare further strengthens British Airways’ capacity to support its partnership strategy and reduce the costs of integrating with other airline systems.
Launched in April 2005, the Amadeus Codeshare solution allows airlines to fully host all codeshare messaging needs in the Amadeus system. Since the start of the British Airways migration in February 2006, the system has already processed almost 270,000 passenger name records (PNR). The system will allow British Airways to sell and issue tickets on codeshare partner airlines, and for partner airlines to sell and issue tickets on British Airways, without maintaining a separate and additional system to communicate between different airlines’ inventory systems.
Amadeus Codeshare was implemented for British Airways as part of a phased migration and will enable British Airways to establish new commercial agreements without significant software development to facilitate codeshare. The phased cutover, the process of transferring each airline to the new solution, was conducted with no disruption to British Airways.

This migration means our codeshare technology meets the needs of British Airways now and in the future.”

The Amadeus Codeshare solution is based on a pioneering community system which means that customers benefit from shared development costs in addition to improving information share and data synchronisation.
Other airlines using Amadeus Codeshare include Finnair and South African Airways.
