As part of Green is the New Blue, Amadeus has teamed up with Saving the Amazon, an international grassroots organization, to plant over 16,000 trees in the Amazon rainforest
As we work to rebuild travel, and build it back better than before, a sustainable recovery that safeguards our planet and our future prosperity needs to be central to the decisions we make. I believe that people and communities must be at the heart of our efforts to rebuild and recover – and we must remember our responsibility to the people and places that make up the global travel industry.
I’m extremely proud of the thousands of Amadeus colleagues that have been making pledges and sharing best practices for our global employee awareness campaign, Green is the New Blue, to celebrate the launch of the United Nations Decade for Ecosystem Restoration initiative. This movement has played a core part in helping communities to rebuild our planet in a cleaner and more sustainable way.
Some people pledged to grow their own food and set up wild areas in their garden to attract more butterflies, bees and other insects. Others committed to a plant-based diet. Some committed to cycling to work each day, and others organized widespread beach cleanups in their communities.
From across Amadeus, from newcomers to company veterans, our people got in on the action, from committing to saving water, to showing how to raise honeybees, biking to work each morning, or sharing their own personal changes.
Green is the New Blue with Saving the Amazon
As part of Green is the New Blue, Amadeus has teamed up with Saving the Amazon , an international grassroots organization, to plant over 16,000 trees in the Amazon rainforest. This is the company's response to the commitment of our employees to help rebuild communities and habitats. By joining the fight against the climate crisis by planting trees in the Amazon together with indigenous communities, we sure can make a difference!
Our people have been essential in the success and impact of this initiative. Working together, we have promoted positive change, helped to preserve biodiversity, and empowered local communities with continued support throughout these challenging times.
And we’re just getting started. We want to continue to build on the engagement of our employees and make an even bigger impact.
Next up is our Amadeus Volunteer Day. This is an opportunity for our teams to get directly involved with the rebuilding of our communities and habitats, whether that be face-to-face or virtually. Stay tuned!
