NDC technology is continuously maturing, and its benefits are really beginning to show. This technology allows for better retailing, providing passengers with the personalised offerings they have long sought.
Corporate travellers are no different – they expect choice, convenience, flexibility, and curated offering. They want offers that make decisions easier and provide extra value - and accessing NDC content through Cytric Easy does just that.
But there’s more. Among all the technical sophistication, it can be forgotten NDC also has the potential to lower costs for corporate travelers, with Amadeus’ data revealing that flights sourced via this technology can be significantly cheaper.
With NDC, prices are often lower for several reasons. With increasing frequency, certain fares are offered by airlines only through the NDC channel to drive adoption, or bespoke rates have been created dynamically by the airline for a corporate partner and made available only via NDC.
This is a rapidly changing environment, and an up-to-date understanding has the potential to be rewarding for corporate travel managers.
For corporations, these savings can really add up. Looking at some popular routes, travellers from Paris to Munich could save €100 per trip when booking NDC, while a trip from London to Paris can be €75 cheaper for NDC rather than content provided via EDIFACT.
Timing is also important. For flights booked 120 days in advance, the average saving when booking NDC compared to EDIFACT was €77. This falls to €60 just 30 days in advance. So, the message is clear, book early and NDC offers present excellent value.
These are significant savings and, extrapolated over a corporate travel management program, have the potential to make a material difference to the bottom line. For the largest companies, those booking over 100,000 trips per annum, the savings can add up to €6 million each year.
NDC is delivering a technical revolution, offering previously impossible levels of personalisation, but the technology also has the potential to make a difference where it potentially hits the most – saving corporate travellers money.
