In Latin America, we were the first to adopt New Distribution Capability (NDC) and today, alongside Amadeus, we continue to drive the transition to modern retailing.
In 2018 we took the first steps by integrating Amadeus Altéa NDC, a solution that provides end-to-end retailing flows, from shopping to purchasing and servicing, via an NDC-Standard API and with full Offer & Order management integration.
We were driven by the innovation potential offered by the new standard as an enabler of industry progress, giving stakeholders access to fast, flexible and up-to-date content from across the ecosystem.
This new technology meant we could fulfil our vision to enhance the customer experience, offering tailored products to travelers and richer content to travel sellers. At the same time, it allowed for the faster implementation of ancillaries and an enhanced ability to integrate partners.
A new distribution strategy
As the benefits of these successful first steps were realized, we forged ahead, launching a new distribution strategy to drive the aviation recovery.
Expanding our relationship with Amadeus in 2021 , we were able to distribute NDC-enabled content via the Amadeus Travel Platform, in addition to our existing connections to travel sellers and corporations.
Today, we can automatically distribute NDC-based offers into the platform, with travel sellers around the world gaining access to the full range of our content.
The launch of this new distribution strategy has been transformational for avianca, allowing us to extend our technological lead in Latin America, while also meeting the evolving needs of travel sellers and travelers. Working alongside Amadeus, we have been able to fully exploit the opportunities offered by NDC to give our customers the end-to-end travel experiences they desire.
At avianca, we deeply value the travel seller community and the contribution they are able to make to our growth. These are key relationships for us, and we continue to work to build stronger partnerships, benefiting from the global reach of Amadeus to deliver excellent service.
End-to-end
As a provider of IT solutions to airlines and home to one of the largest travel distribution platforms in the world, Amadeus has proved to be the right technology provider for us. It is able to support us in our NDC journey and offer end to end solutions for our entire business ecosystem.
Amadeus’ unique position – with expertise on both the airline and travel seller sides - ensures there is interoperability, efficiency and a smooth integration in the solutions that we build together.
Amadeus’ technology allows us to build and tailor our offers efficiently. Using the latest merchandizing techniques we can easily present and distribute them in a way that enriches the shopping experience for buyers.
The reach, scale and sophistication of the retailing capabilities now available to us through the Amadeus Travel Platform have been a driver of success for our airline.
We currently welcome one of the largest numbers of NDC bookings globally across Amadeus’ systems, with a strong double digit growth percentage in June this year.
