Trip.com Group and Amadeus are celebrating a decade of collaboration.

In honor of this milestone, I want to offer a brief look at where the travel industry standsand the work we are jointly undertaking to drive transformation across the sector.

Gathering momentum

Trip.com Group released Momentum 2025 last year, based on insights from over 6,000 travelers in six Asia-Pacific markets. The report forecasts the trends and innovations shaping the future of travel, including technology-driven personalization, niche travel experiences, and a renewed focus on meaningful, immersive journeys. These are all areas we are exploring with Amadeus to build new traveler experiences.

Culinary tourism, for example, remains a major driver of travel. We all know Southeast Asia is a foodie paradise, and we saw that reflected in our research. Music, too, continues to inspire many of us to take a trip, and concert tourism is now more prevalent than ever.

How are travelers discovering these new opportunities? Momentum 2025 found that 70 per cent of our users are inspired to travel based on what they see online or via social media. This is key to reaching travelers, particularly younger generations.

Success in the palm of your hand

To ensure we can help travelers realize their ambitions, we remain focused on our app-first approach, working to develop a wholly customer-centric digital experience. The all-in-one platform allows our users to book flights, hotels, tours, tickets, and attractions in a single location.

If travelers wish to change their plans, the app is the place to do so. Interestingly, 95 percent of all flight ticket refunds we process are completed through the app. This is powered by Amadeus Ticket Changer, which helps us streamline various time-consuming tasks such as interpreting fares, verifying eligibility, and calculating balances and fees.

The quick response times and accurate resolutions made possible by this tool are essential for preventing call center congestion and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Southeast Asia is a very fragmented market, and having a localized approach to customer service is extremely important. It’s at the forefront of everything we do and having technology that empowers us to deliver the service our customers expect is essential. Our partnership with Amadeus is something that we believe is setting us apart and helping us to continue our growth in Southeast Asia.

Working together to transform travel

Amadeus has very much been with Trip.com since its inception. When the decision was made in 2018 to expand the brand outside China, Amadeus became one of our key technology partners, having supported us throughout the journey as we look to both transform and revolutionize travel.

Amadeus has helped overcome many challenges we encounter as our business continues to grow. Its technology has been there to support us and provide innovative solutions to the problems we face.

Another great example is Amadeus Flight Update Notification (FUN). This solution instantly delivers flight disruption information to the Trip.com app, enabling us to notify travelers in real time via SMS, email, or app notifications. This ensures travelers receive timely updates on flight changes and can proactively adapt - either accepting the change or opting for change or refund through Trip.com, powered by Amadeus Ticket Changer.

Tied to data from Amadeus Altéa, this has been a great way for us to reduce stress for our travelers, helping them make decisions instantly.

As much as we would like to say we are able to do it all on our own, Amadeus has very much been at the core of our growth and a strong driving force for us. Together, we continue to innovate, and I can only imagine the solutions we will be working on together in the next five to ten years.
