In today's environment where evolving travel requirements are giving rise to new customer expectations and demands, we believe that strong industry connections and partnerships will give us the necessary agility to build back travel better.
Partnerships are an important element of our growth strategy. We believe that combining knowledge, technology and connections enable innovation, faster time to market, and simplification. This is why we have recently entered a strategic relationship with IBM, with the objective of combining the deep travel industry expertise of Amadeus with the technical competencies of IBM to connect the Travel & Transportation Ecosystem serving the traveler.
Building on those assets, and IBM’s strength in other vertical industries, such as Healthcare, and the proven expertise of IBM in the areas of business consultancy, both companies aim to create industry leading technologies, platforms and solutions to support our customers.
Recently, Amadeus successfully worked with IBM to integrate the IBM Digital Health Pass into Traveler ID for Safe Travel , Amadeus' digital health verification solution. This solution simplifies the verification of passengers' health credentials during the boarding process. This way, we support the reopening of borders, improve traveler confidence, and help airlines and governments to check COVID-19 health documents.
But that was just the start: Amadeus and IBM will continue to enhance the safety and confidence of the traveler through even greater security with verification and identity authentication, and are planning to address Digital Identity related use cases building on the success of the Safe Travel initiative.
Both Amadeus and IBM share a strategic dedication to open source and are developing customer solutions based on open technologies powered by Red Hat. With a large joint customer base we intend to continuously develop our portfolio, and to further invest in joint solutions helping our customers to reshape travel.
Taking a long-term view through AI and Machine Learning
Amadeus and IBM will continue to innovate to address the future needs of traveler operations and traveler expectations and will work together on solutions and offerings to aid airlines, airports, hotels and more in harnessing artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Amadeus and IBM will support each company's platforms to work on joint innovation for the benefits for our customers, by building on existing assets, such as IBM Travel Platform including extensions to mobile users, or Amadeus platforms built on open source technologies supported by IBM.
