Through the Share Match Plan, employees have the chance to invest in our shares each month directly via payroll contributions. If a participant doesn´t sell any of the shares within the first year, Amadeus awards him or her 25 free shares. In addition, after a further year the company gives an additional free share for every two purchased.
Amadeus was recently awarded two prestigiousifs ProShare awards for our newly implemented employee share purchase plan. The Share Match Plan won the award for “ Best new share plan” and received a commendation in the “Most effective communication of an employee share plan” category. The ifs ProShare annual awards, which are now in their 21st year, aim to recognise excellence in the field of employee share ownership. Over 35 companies, including many multinationals, were in contention for one of the coveted prizes; in the end, Amadeus was able to impress the judges with an “impeccable new share plan that did everything right” to achieve first place.
Our objective was to offer the first edition of the plan to as many employees as possible. We launched in 25 countries on four continents, covering over 85% of our employees. The result was overwhelming: more than 4,000 employees - over 55% of the eligible population - signed up and are now buying Amadeus shares each month.
When reviewing the entries, the ifs ProShare judges focused on four criteria: the link to corporate objectives, the effectiveness of the communication strategy, the ease of enrolment, and the overall success of the plan as measured by the number of employees who adhere to it.

To be successful, the recipe for innovation has to contain one essential ingredient: our people. Keeping our people motivated, engaged and committed is one of Amadeus’ main goals. We think that the Share Match Plan helps us to achieve this objective, so I’m delighted that the scheme has been recognised externally at such a high level.
