Travel technology is undergoing a once-in-a-generation transformation. Never before have so many new tools been available to us, all at the same time.
Cloud technology now provides the backbone for fast, widespread computing at scale. Robust platforms break down silos to make data widely available, more organized and better connected. Breakthroughs in biometrics and artificial intelligence (AI) create new dimensions of automation.
All this is happening, right now.
Here, as we arrive in London for the Business Travel Show Europe, I would like to take a look at what these technologies mean for us at Amadeus Cytric and explore how they are helping transform the business travel experience.
Amadeus Cytric for Microsoft Teams has always been a fully cloud-native product. As the importance of the cloud has continued to grow, we have reengineered all Cytric components including the Cytric Easy web and mobile applications to now migrate over to Microsoft Azure. This allows for the development of a more robust, scalable, efficient and secure experience for users.
This is an exciting, rewarding and complex move. It's a move that will ensure a seamless experience across the web, mobile and Microsoft Teams, making it easy for employees to manage travel and expenses from anywhere.
When complete, the process will allow us to deploy new features faster, while taking advantage of new generative AI tools such as GitHub for developers and Copilot to accelerate the pace of transformation. The migration to Azure will boost efficiency and deliver seamless, traveler-focused experiences, driving innovation to create more value for corporate travelers.
The development is part of a wider global strategic partnership between us and Microsoft, one designed to leverage cloud and AI to deliver innovative products and solutions. There is more information here.
Alongside the cloud, Amadeus Cytric is also capitalizing on the changing AI landscape.
Over the last three years, generative AI has been focused on supportive assistance, but the next stage will be defined by proactive functionality. Rather than responding to requests from users, agentic AI will autonomously anticipate traveler needs, rebook flights in real-time, optimize itineraries based on changing schedules and even help travel managers negotiate hotel rates within corporate travel policies.
This shift means business travelers will experience a seamless, highly personalized journey with minimal manual input, allowing them to focus on productivity instead of logistics. Indeed, the transformation is already underway – just look at Amadeus’ Business Travel Trends for 2025.
Against this backdrop, we are working with Microsoft to develop the Cytric AI Assistant for Microsoft Teams. The AI Assistant will help corporate travelers with elements of their journey - from planning, booking and pre-departure, right through to the trip and post-trip - aligning travelers’ preferences with employers’ policies for a more efficient and cost-effective experience.
Today, we are entering an ‘early adopters’ phase of deployment, working with four customers, including Microsoft themselves. Once this is complete, we are looking to launch to all Amadeus Cytric customers in a phased approach, initially including search for flight and hotel, all within employer policy, then later, the ability to book, plus rail and car rental content and cancel and modify functionality.
Exact timings for launch will depend on the outcomes of the early phase, as our priority is to deliver the best possible experience for all users.
Elsewhere, our teams have been working to deepen our network of partnerships, enhancing our position at the center of the travel ecosystem.
More recently, global travel management company, BCD Travel, already a longstanding customer, has become a reseller of Cytric Easy for Microsoft Teams. Through the new integration, corporate travel managers will have access to the benefits of Cytric Easy technology as part of the BCD Travel portfolio. Combining Cytric Easy for Microsoft Teams with the global reach of BCD Travel will enable more corporate travel managers to deliver a collaborative experience for corporate travelers.
Finally, we have announced a new integration with innovative booking platform, hubli, which will allow corporate travelers to plan their entire trip including flights, accommodation, mobility and meeting venues from one convenient access point. The self-serve booking platform will allow corporate travelers to book small meeting venues, group hotel stays and internal office spaces from a single place.
We have plenty more to discuss in London – so come visit Amadeus Cytric on Stand J20.
