According to our latest research, every year 3.3% of a company’s employees are on a formal assignment and 12.3% of employees work overseas.
In the next few years,up to 75% of the workforce could work cross-border, this means 24 million individuals could be classified as a ‘Business Traveler’ (employees who are sent temporarily to work in another country to undertake business activities instead of having a permanent or formal assignment abroad), or a ‘Remote Worker’ (employees who work from different locations).
The pandemic has shown global employment issues can be a key challenge for companies, especially as travel compliance requirements are becoming more and more complex.
The return of business travel, emerging mobility work patterns, and the increasing need for travel compliance in a complex business and regulatory environment will all drive a significant need for globally integrated providers with sophisticated digital platforms. And let’s face it, the needs of corporate employees have fundamentally evolved.
With this, new ways of working have come to stay, with business travel increasing rapidly, remote workers providing services to their employer from a different country, digital nomads brokering their highly demanded skills to the best companies regardless of the geographic location, work from anywhere policies, the list continues.
It doesn’t come as a surprise to see a growing demand from Human Resource and Travel Management departments for an integrated digital experience across the entirety of the talent mobility ecosystem. This ecosystem needs to be supported by the right technology and support model, which can deal with the new mobility trends, with the same quality and confidentiality of services than before.
Responding to these new mobility trends, called for a brave approach not only from an investment point of view, but also a new organizational model with no cross-business dependencies, and flexible enough to respond to the challenge.
PwC and Amadeus anticipated this need long before the pandemic started. Therefore, we have been in an ideal situation of being able to respond quickly, working together we have created a collaboration to design an end-to-end solution to help organizations with a global footprint to better address all challenges associated with the future of work.
As part of our collaboration with Amadeus, we decided to address these needs, looking to overcome the challenges of travel management and compliance for companies globally, with a particular focus on business travelers and remote workers. Our collaboration offers a set of unique solutions that integrates the booking of the business trips, ensuring travel compliance requirements are met. A personalized end-to-end solution that saves time and cost to the company and to the employee, focuses on the employer and employee experience, and finally ensures business continuity with an added value to the organization.
The solution we have created offers a one-stop-shop that integrates prime tools and processes from both Amadeus and PwC:
Amadeus Cytric + PwC myTrips: Offering employees the possibility to book their business trips and receive immigration, social security, Posted Workers Directive (PWD) and tax assistance throughout the journey using only one tool. This solution starts with a pre-travel assessment in real time and provides the traveler and the company with visibility around the obligations to be fulfilled before the trip. It ends with post-data analytics dashboards and filing of downstream compliance. The tool includes round the clock support for our employee during their trip.
In this new world of travel, with remote working becoming the norm, companies need to rethink their approach to traditional global mobility, as well as business trips.
We believe that the steps we are taking at PwC will allow us to address these new mobility trends and our customer’s needs head on. We are looking to overcome the challenges of travel management and compliance globally, with a particular focus on new global mobility programs for business travelers and remote workers.
