How NDC pioneer avianca is driving adoption of this cutting-edge technology in collaboration with Amadeus

Working alongside Amadeus, the carrier began its NDC journey in 2018, integrating Amadeus Altéa NDC to enable end-to-end retailing, from shopping to purchasing and servicing.

With NDC, avianca was driven by the innovative potential it offered as an enabler of industry progress, giving stakeholders access to a fast, flexible, and up-to-date ecosystem of content. NDC aligns with avianca’s vision to be an airline that everybody can fly – allowing the carrier to enhance the customer experience, offer tailored products to travelers, and richer content to travel sellers. This opens the possibility to reach a wider audience, while also allowing to implement more ancillaries faster, with the ability to integrate more partners to provide the airline’s tailored offer across multiple channels.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the flag carrier took the decisive step to launch a new distribution strategy to drive recovery.

An enhanced partnership with Amadeus - signed in 2021 - included distribution of NDC-enabled content via theAmadeus Travel Platform , in addition to existing content for travel agencies and corporations. As an Altéa NDC customer, avianca can now seamlessly and automatically distribute its NDC-based offers into the Amadeus Travel Platform – and Amadeus travel sellers around the world get easy and efficient access to the full range of avianca content, regardless of distribution technology.
