The Competitiveness Index was designed to provide a detailed view of the strengths, challenges and opportunities in the Latin American and Caribbean air transport industry. Together with ALTA, we aim to provide the information regional leaders need to design strategies that result in a successful and sustainable path for growth, increased collaboration, and improved competitiveness.
The third edition of this Index analyzes the competitiveness of the airline industry in 20 countries in the region, focusing on seven key pillars: operating costs, infrastructure quality, taxes and passenger charges, sustainability, propensity to travel, international openness and liberalization, and international connectivity.
These factors are neither exhaustive nor comprehensive, but they have an immediate impact on the operation of the airlines and on the well-being of the industry in general, including all players.
We invite you to delve into the factors we’ve reviewed and the findings of this index, which seeks to evaluate the competitiveness of the countries of the region. We believe this will help aviation in Latin America and the Caribbean continue the path towards its forecasted growth and continue to play an important role in the economic and social development of the region.
