My role has always been challenging, exciting, and rewarding. It got even more so when Mr. Ravinder Pal Singh, Chief Information & Innovation Officer of Vistara, invited Amadeus to be a partner at the Vistara Hackathon. For one month, several of our teams worked with Vistara to make this event a huge success.

The 30-hour hackathon, held in both Delhi and Bengaluru, featured more than 50 teams, making it one of India’s largest aviation hackathons. #DisruptioninAviation was the theme and developers were encouraged to use the strength of big dataanalytics, social media, and gamification, to bring their ideas to life. Participants were equipped with APIs and tools from technology providers, including the Amadeus Travel Innovation Sandbox.

All of the ideas were amazing and full of energy making it very tough for the judges to decide on the winners. Many teams presented ideas for in-flight entertainment, airport navigation, and crowd management. Some interesting ideas were about harnessing the presence of airline employees spread throughout a country, customer engagement through gamification, and many more.

‘Syndicate’, the winning team from Delhi, created a passenger emotion recognition application that enabled personalisedcustomer service. Congratulations to all the winners and all those who participated in this great experience.

Thank you to the Vistara team for organising an amazing event and providing us with the privilege of collaborating in such an initiative. We look forward to further opportunities to help shape the technology of the aviation industry.
