We’re creating a more connected travel industry, underpinned by sustainability and long-term investor relations.
Did you know that Amadeus, a leading technology provider for the travel industry worldwide, is also fully committed to sustainability beyond commercial interest? In fact, we have just published our Corporate Sustainability Report and you may wish to download it here to go through the status of our specific activities in 2012.

We are convinced that sustainability is key for companies and societies alike. That’s why we work to make sure the company’s operations and activities are aligned towards this objective. Operating at the core of the travel industry, we connect the complex ecosystem of sellers and buyers of travel. Therefore Amadeus can contribute to sustainability by leveraging the underlying technology capabilities, expertise and stakeholder relations.
Our commitment to sustainability relies on three pillars: business ethics (the Amadeus Code of Professional Behaviour is the principal reference to safeguard the appropriate development in this field); environmental sustainability (minimising the use of natural resources, providing solutions to our customers to help them optimise their impacts and working together with industry stakeholders towards common environmental objectives) and corporate citizenship (training and educational projects, selected components of Amadeus technology deployed in social projects, local community projects and volunteering).
Amadeus has developed extensive projects within both the Environmental Sustainability and theCorporate Citizenship (138 initiatives in 45 countries) global framework. Some of the highlights in the Amadeus CS Report include:
anniversary celebration through varied community projects led by the company’s network of volunteers worldwide.
Amadeus’ contribution to travel industry sustainability is closely linked to its R&D activities – the increased efficiencies that come with the company’s innovative solutions are often combined with reduced energy and resource consumption, as shown byairlines ’ improved productivity, operational efficiencies and fuel consumption through the Amadeus Altéa Passenger Services Solution. Since 2004, Amadeus has invested around 2.4 billion EUR in R&D. In 2012, 14 per cent of the company’s revenues were invested in R&D to make sure Amadeus’ solutions deliver efficiencies and continue to shape the future of travel. But this cannot be achieved without our people’s competencies, skills and attitudes. In this edition of our Corporate Sustainability Report we pay tribute to those employees in particular that work in a different country from their own, playing an important role in contributing to keeping Amadeus as the culturally rich company it is today.
