Southwest Airlines and Amadeus have today announced that the airline has selected Amadeus Altéa as their single reservation solution for both their domestic and international operations.
The agreement builds on Amadeus’ existing partnership with Southwest, which began selling international itineraries in January 2014, using Amadeus’ Altéa reservation solution and will begin flying those itineraries on July 1, 2014.
Extending the tremendous cooperation between the two companies, which has been based in part on our complementary cultures and the mutual respect of the two teams, is an exciting step forward for Amadeus and we look forward to continuing the relationship.
Gary Kelly, Southwest’s CEO, today said: We were pleased with the international launch, and we could not be more impressed with the experience of Amadeus and the capabilities of their product.
We are delighted and honored by the trust placed in Amadeus by Southwest in this agreement, which is truly a landmark deal for us. Not only does it significantly expand our business in North America, but once the domestic routes are implemented Southwest will be Amadeus’ largest airline IT partner worldwide in terms of passengers boarded.
Having an airline of this scope, magnitude and vision select Altéa demonstrates once again the flexibility, functionality and value that Amadeus delivers to more than 100 airlines worldwide and their customers.
