Why Nigeria’s fastest growing carrier, Med-View Airline, chose Amadeus

Before partnering with Amadeus, getting IATA agents to sell our products on a cash-basis was a major challenge; most of them were not willing to do this as it required prepayment and this was limiting our growth. To overcome this problem, we decided to engage with a distribution partner, and we chose Amadeus because of its industry-leading technology, its distribution and retailing expertise, its global reach that enables us to grow in new markets and its flexible, responsive and down to earth team.

Med-View Airline came from humble beginnings. It all started in 2007 when we undertook the challenge of Hajj operations in Nigeria – transporting thousands of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia to participate in the annual pilgrimage to Mecca. During that time, Med-Viewearned a reputation as a team of resourceful professionals. From these humble beginnings, we are now expanding rapidly. Our strategic priorities are to better connect our brand with travellers, increase revenues from expanded international reach and establish ourselves as one of the region’s most reputable carriers.

Partnership Outcomes

Our relationship with Amadeus is delivering. We have been able to increase revenues and our brand exposure efficiently by accessing all Billing and Settlement Plan agents in Nigeria, Ghana, Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom and enabling them to sell our products and services; something which was initially impossible. It’s also given us access to non-BSP markets and ensured consistent cash-flow of foreign currency, thus boosting our ability to settle accounts with foreign vendors. In addition to this, our partnership with Amadeus has increased our monthly remittance on the BSP by about 150%, especially in Nigeria and United Kingdom.

Collaborating with Amadeus to make our full range of content available across all channels has been instrumental in forging partnerships with the travel agency community to achieve maximum brand visibility with travellers. And this is just the beginning as we work towards employing cutting-edge technology, which is especially important in the dynamic and evolving African airline industry. To this end, we are implementing the E-Ticket Direct solution in other West African countries where the BSP is not available.
