The doors to HITEC 2014 opened at 10AM Tuesday this week in the Los Angeles Convention Center. By 10:03AM Newmarket International, an Amadeus company, had signed its first contract of the event for Delphi.fdc – the 100% cloud-based end to end sales and catering solution built on Salesforce' force.com platform.
HITEC is the world's largest hospitality technology show where the hotel industry converges each year to see what’s hot in technology to enable and empower a diverse spectrum of hotel and hospitality operations. It’s where buyers, sellers, influencers and opinion leaders from across the industry can put faces to names, catch up on the latest trends and hopefully spot the next big thing for the industry. One next big thing that everyone here is interested in is how Amadeus and Newmarket International combined will shape the future of hotels. How will we help hoteliers be more flexible in executing new business models and deliver new brand experiences? How will we drive even greater guest engagement? During the event we heard about therelease of HotSOS Mobile , which empowers hospitality service teams to be more productive and accountable. It gives managers full visibility of operations in real-time and in the palm of their hands. The Service Optimisation team behind the HotSOS portfolio are now preparing for when wearable technologies become a viable and affordable option for busy hotel staff to gain a further edge on service and guest engagement. The most fun demo at HITEC was undoubtedly the prototype of Newmarket's HotSOS on Google Glass. Hoteliers are getting a taste of making guest requests to Glass and seeing how they are instantly logged and rapidly fulfilled.
People were also flocking to the booth to see live demos of Delphi.fdc. Only when you see Delphi at work on the Salesforce.com platform can you appreciate the power and infinite possibilities of literally customising Salesforce.com for the hotel and hospitality industry.
The Bucket List Wall
And finally, as if that weren't enough to attract a crowd, booth visitors have a chance to contribute to Newmarket's "I want to" bucket-list wall. For every “I want to…” wish expressed, the company, as part of its Newmarket Gives Back initiative, will make a donation to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Hundreds of wishes have already been posted. And they are are wide-ranging: from wanting to “drive a lime-green Lamborghini”, “jam with the Foo Fighters” or “eat dessert first” to “launch my own record label”, “own my own hotel” or “find someone a job”.
