We believe travellers’ desire for connectivity will only grow further - across all modes of transport, experiences and devices. They will want the world to join together around their particular needs and they'll expect their journeys to be one single smooth experience.

So, we asked and you answered - what is the key initiative needed to make the traveller experience more connected?

50% Mobile –The resounding and perhaps unsurprising winner – mobile

is obviously a fan favourite when it comes to creating a more connected travel experience. Whether this means better integration of mobile into the check-in and boarding processes or the development of more useful travel apps – it’s clear that mobile will be at the forefront of shaping a more connected travel experience.

25% Connecting modes of transportation – Today, we're leading a consortium

with the European Union that is creating a vision of multimodal travel to make trips across Europe using various modes of transport easy. This is just the first step in creating a truly seamless travel experience – but it will be the foundation of a more connected future of travel.

9.26% Virtual personal assistant – While there are virtual assistants

such as Apple’s Siri and Google Now – less than 10% of you thought that these technologies were important in creating more connected travel. Perhaps, as technology advances and these assistants grow more intelligent – there will be more room for the implementation of virtual assistants in the travel experience.

11.11% Virtual reality travel – We can probably all agree that the potential of VR tech in travel

is intriguing to say the least. But, the results of this poll indicate that the tech is just not yet up to par when it comes to placing emphasis on this initiative to create a more connected travel future.

4.63% Video conferencing – Tallying less than 5% – video conferencing apparently is not thought to be a key initiative in terms of connected travel. Perhaps it’s because video conferencing technology is already so advanced that it can no longer be considered a necessary key initiative?

What do you think? Did we miss any big initiatives that you feel should be included? Are you surprised by any of the results? Let us know!
