Celebrating 30 years with Amadeus travel tales

Julia Kemp

Content Planning Executive, Amadeus IT Group

Over the course of 30 years a lot of great memories are made, especially when it comes to the world of travel. In celebration of our 30th anniversary, we asked some of our employees to think back to their earliest memory when travelling, or talk about what they'd like to see in the future of travel. Here are a few of our favourite so far:

Catherine, Amadeus employee, Nice, France  Q:
Tell me about something you had to do 30 years ago when travelling that you would never have to do now.

A:
30 years ago I travelled with a guidebook, travel brochures and oh, so much paper (including travellers cheques, paper tickets, receipts and a folding map). Today I save trees…

Leslie, Amadeus employee, Nice Q:

Tell me about something you had to do 30 years ago to travel that you would never have to do now.

A:
My journey down the path of the travel industry road started in a call centre. They still exist but have certainly changed.

Andy, Amadeus employee, Singapore Q:
If you could create anything to improve travel, what is an innovation you would like to see in the future?

A:
What I would really like to see is pre-filled immigration forms (arrival/departure), with information populated from Passenger Name Record (PNR)/Passenger Frequent Flyer profiles.

Maria, Amadeus employee, Singapore Q:
If you could create anything to improve travel, what is an innovation you would like to see in the future?

A:
I recently did a coaching course where I ended up describing myself as “Yin and Yang” - as in I like things that seem opposites but are actually complementing each other. This seems to happen to me in most areas in my life and travel is no different.

Sandra, Amadeus employee, Sao Paulo Q:
If you could create anything to improve travel, what is an innovation you would like to see in the future?

A:
I would love to have the chance to get to know more about the place that I am planning to visit before travelling there! I would like to use virtual/augmented reality to understand a little bit more about the culture, beliefs and routines of that particular city.
