Amadeus becomes honorary first associate member of the European Travel Commission

Juan Jesús García Ph.D.

Head of Industry Affairs Europe, Amadeus IT Group

This associate membership with the ETC, which represents 33 National Tourism organizations in Europe, will enable us to further support tourism as a driver of the European economy through advocacy and information exchange. Amadeus and the ETC have a long standing successful history of working together, which has resulted in the formation of a strategic partnership and a Ulysses Award from the UNWTO. Our goal is to continue working together in collaboration with the European Commission and European Parliament to reinforce the competitiveness of the tourism sector in Europe.

Working with key organisations in the travel industry to foster economic growth, employment, and regional development is important to our overall vision. As such, we are to become the honorary first associate member of the European Travel Commission (ETC).

What this partnership brings

This partnership is also a good example of public-private cooperation and brings significant potential to strengthen this important sector. Associate membership to the ETC was opened this year for private companies, with the aim to gather the representatives of the travel sector and advocate the importance of tourism for the European economy.  An exclusive short list of travel companies with a proven record of contribution to the European tourism economy have been offered associate membership.

This partnership will build upon existing common projects, such as our VisitEurope App and will open the door to new possibilities in joint action in public affairs, research, and marketing promotion.
