A warm welcome from the GBTA Conference 2014! Amadeus is proud to be a sponsor of Europe’s largest buyer led business travel conference. This year GBTA has joined forces with VDR, Germany’s leading business travel association, and it’s the first time that a GBTA Conference is being held in Berlin.
The conference’s agenda is full of insightful sessions, discussing the latest topics in our industry. The event officially began yesterday, with some inspirational speeches. I had the opportunity to introduce Debra Searle , a professional adventurer who takes travel to its limits. Her welcome keynote speech reminded all of us of the importance of choosing our attitude when facing challenges – a piece of advice fitting for any industry.
The opening talks were followed by a grand reception at the Maritim Hotel, providing all delegates the opportunity to network at the start of the conference.
The programme has kicked off today, and this morning I was on stage interviewing Joe Bates (VP, Research GBTA), one of the top keynote speakers at the event, following his speech on GBTA’s BTI Business Travel Outlook.
This afternoon there are two Breakout Sessions, as well as a Knowledge Exchange, before the evening’s entertainment.
At Amadeus we feel strongly about the importance of connecting with our customers and fellow industry players at leading industry events such as GBTA. Technology has an ever more important role in our changing world, but, having said that, it is vital that the human touch is not lost in the application of this technology.
