Social media highlights from Amadeus Airline e-Commerce Conference 2011

Earlier this month, I was fortunate to be in the sunny French city of Cannes which played host to the Amadeus Airline e-Commerce Conference 2011. The year's show brought key customers and players in the travel industry together to discuss, debate and develop key talking points for the industry.

Earlier this month, I was fortunate to be in the sunny French city of Cannes which played host to the Amadeus Airline e-Commerce Conference 2011. The year's show brought key customers and players in the travel industry together to discuss, debate and develop key talking points for the industry.

One noticeable aspect this year was the strong role that social media played throughout proceedings, amplifying discussions from the event across the web. I was one of a number of attendees who took to my mobile device and laptop to open the debate online by 'tweeting' key snippets and discussion points over Twitter.

Indeed the event's hashtag – #1AeCom11 – got a number of mentions allowing those online but not at the conference to follow the key topics in real-time.

Those of us at the event enjoyed a number of interesting presentations and sessions delivered by industry heavyweights like TAM, Scandinavian Airlines, Travel Tech Consulting and of course a number of my Amadeus colleagues.
