Exploring the technology set to fuel the trillion dollar digital revolution

They say data is the new oil. It’s an immensely valuable asset that’s still somewhat untapped. In the travel industry, its application for things like personalisation is only limited by our imaginations. There’s a fundament shift coming to how we allow third parties to access and interact with our data. Travel is a very complex and data rich ecosystem and how we can very cleverly interact with these players is key.



Artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, digital commerce, and experience engineering. These were the innovations on the mind of everyone at the 11th edition ofThe World Summit on Innovation & Entrepreneurship(WSIE) in New York City. I was happy to represent Amadeus at the event, where I participated in a panel on tomorrow’s intelligent disruptions in the travel industry. 
Here are a few of the themes I touched upon:

This is all about smarter responses, more powerful recommendations, and personalisation. Travellers will get much smarter recommendations trips suggestions or flight routes. And travel companies will be able to use AI in ways to save significantly whether it be on marketing spend or on technology development.


The ability to help drive large travel efficiencies with the blockchain is starting to become closer to reality. These complex touch points that in the past were not possible because of the inability to share data might become possible soon. Think about when you take a flight and show your ID when you check-in. The opportunity in travel is the connectivity and delivering a stress free experience.
