When Azul Airlines, a leading Brazilian carrier, announced their intention to start international flights to Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, they knew they’d need the technology to manage the increased operational complexity that comes with international expansion. They needed a flexible and modular approach to modernizing their IT systems.
To meet such needs, Azul decided to partner with Amadeus and implement the Amadeus Altéa Reservation and Ticketing platform . The objective was to expand the reservation and ticket issuance capabilities for their international flights, optimizing the distribution reach through all of Azul’s existing sales channels.
Amadeus was able to implement the new platform in a record time of just three months, enabling the airline to handle the increased complexity associated with international flights in time for their launch date of mid-December 2014. With the implementation complete, Azul’s international flights can now be viewed, searched and purchased through all existing sales channels both direct and indirect. Due to the avoidance of collateral impacts on the airline’s existing processes, Azul has been able to fully benefit from the expanded commercial opportunities from day one.
Working with Azul Airlines , and being able to assist them during their evolution from a point-to-point domestic airline to an international low cost carrier, has been greatly satisfying for all of us at Amadeus.
