Amadeus became a three-time winner when our North America research and development team was awarded the top prize for its event-based, travel inspiration app developed for the recent Tnooz THack event in San Francisco.
This latest win marks the third time Amadeus has taken top honors at aTnooz THack, a unique event which challenges development team participants to create new digital travel products and web or mobile tools using selected travel industry APIs.
As part of the competition, participating teams had ten days to pull ahack together, culminating in an intense day-long showcase event in San Francisco.
The Boston-based Amadeus team put their collaborative spirit, ingenuity and coding prowess to the test to create the winning entry: a dynamic event builder and planner application named Soiree. The concept behind the app is to use social channels such as Facebook to identify and connect lovers of culture – music, film, food, events and more -- to the experiences they are most interested in and enable them to build travel packages around the key dates and cities where those interests are taking place.
“I am very proud of the Amadeus team for clinching this three-peat win,” said Mary Keagul, head of R&D for Amadeus North America. “This was a true team effort and I am very grateful to this great team of developers and product and user experience professionals who worked weekends and late hours to take on the challenge and showcase Amadeus’ innovation capabilities.”
At theTnooz THack San Francisco in September 2012, Amadeus clinched the prize with its app calledTVote , a Facebook-driven application which enables group bookings to be organized and booked using a voting system from participants.
The Amadeus team also took home tophonors at theTnooz THack Boston event in September 2011 with the creation of a sports fans travel recommendations website based on the away games of the U.S. football team, the New England Patriots.
With its ongoing focus on innovation, Amadeus regularly participates in other hacks, including recently in New York City at theTechCrunch Disrupt event which brings together hackers and developers from around the world for an intense 24-hour hackathon among other activities.
