We’re creating a more connected travel industry, underpinned by sustainability and long-term investor relations.
At this year’s No Frills, a key tourism trade show held in Bergamo, Italy, a hackathon has been organized as part of the event activities, where a number of coders, researchers, start-ups and software companies are gathered today.
We are always looking for opportunities to foster innovation in Italy and, when the organizer of this event offered us the possibility to work together and act as an API provider for this event, we were delighted to accept.
The Amadeus Innovation & Research division is currently working on the Amadeus Travel Innovation Sandbox which is the perfect toolbox for prototyping activities. It offers a full set of simplified RESTful APIs (Flight, Airlines, Airport, Hotel, Car, Rail), datasets and travel information to enable hackathon participants develop innovative applications swiftly. Our colleagues based in Nice and Boston provided all the technological expertise to be ready for the event, and will continue to provide their support throughout the day. We also updated the APIs with local Italian content for this particular event.
At the time of publishing this post the hackathon is still ongoing and the outcome still to be seen, but we may be about to discover a new application that will change the experience of millions of travellers around the world. You can find out more about this hackathon including photos from the event on this blog, our corporate Twitter and Amadeus Italia Twitter .
