We’re creating a more connected travel industry, underpinned by sustainability and long-term investor relations.
I had the privilege of hosting this year’s Corporate Travel Network, which not only saw a dramatic increase in the number of global corporations, TMCs and other industry heavyweights (up 50% from 2010) but also revealed that the demand for travel technology for corporations has never been higher.
More and more, corporations are understanding the value of what technology can bring in terms of process efficiencies, cost savings and perhaps more importantly, the experience to the end traveIler.
Philippe Lavest of Michelin told me it's an “excellent event. It is good to discover, in a practical manner, the evolution of Amadeus solutions and find products to reinforce the travel strategy of my company and save money.”
Requesting mobile technology/solutions for travellers whilst on their trip, not only at the preparation and booking stages, is just one of many examples of this emerging trend.
I’m really pleased that this visionary conference successfully focused our resources on what makes a difference: uniting key players from the entire industry and on a global scale to better align priorities.
Our guest speaker, John Simpson from BBC World Affairs, even related his experiences as a world renowned reporter to the business travel world, providing insight into the importance of sifting through swathes of information to get to what’s relevant.
We’re succeeding in facilitating open dialogue between corporations, TMCs and providers to help optimise our increasing investment in the corporations area from day one. This helps us keep up with the demand and pace of travel technology for corporations.
Julian Russell of HRG commented on the open dialogue, telling me that “the Corporate Travel Network provided a great opportunity to bring together the disparate stakeholders and share knowledge. The opportunity to network was excellent”.
Initiatives, such as increasing the number of releases per year for our leading corporate booking tool, Amadeus e-Travel Management, from 3 to 9 means we’re responding to staying ahead of the curve as the industry evolves.
We’ve received positive feedback and believe we’re on the right track, but the conversation does not stop there…let me know your thoughts on how we can improve the business travel experience.
