Amadeus is committed to strengthen the sustainability of the travel and tourism sector. One of the many ways we do this is by leveraging the talent and enthusiasm of our people, the capabilities of our technology, and our expertise in the global travel industry to establish partnerships that make a real difference. To this end, we’ve signed a partnership agreement with the World Tourism Organization(UNWTO) to greatly build upon this commitment by strengthening the link between technology and tourism.

This strategic partnership will propel a number of actions, including the development of a prototype to facilitate multimodaltravel and the launch of a talent development programme for tourism and joint activities in the areas of ethics and corporate social responsibility.

The memorandum of understanding, signed on behalf of UNWTO by Secretary-General Taleb Rifai, will serve as a basis to amplify key technology and sustainability initiatives through our network of partners, while also providing an example of industry collaboration for the travel and tourism sector.

In addition to the facilitation of multimodal travel and talent development, initiatives will include the exploration of opportunities relating to accessibility and empowerment programmes for women in tourism.

Amadeus and UNWTO will jointly promote these and other initiatives through seminars, regional commissions, and general events such as the recently held Middle East UNWTO meeting in Dubai or the Amadeus eventin the European Parliament on multimodality.
