President, Travel
Decius Valmorbida is the President of the Travel unit in Amadeus since August 2020 and member of the Amadeus Executive Committee since 2017. Previously, Valmorbida was the head of Travel Channels.
Decius is responsible for leading the Airlines, Travel Channels and Airports businesses under one transversal and platform-led customer unit.
Decius graduated in Computer Science in 1995 in the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro and started his professional career in the Telecom industry. He worked in IT Management roles for 10 years in companies such as AT&T and Ernst & Young.
In 2004, Decius finished an MBA in General Management from Insper Institute in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and joined Amadeus as Operations Director for Amadeus Brazil. In 2006, he moved to Nice to become the Head of the LATAM Marketing team.
After three years living in France, he moved back to Brazil and had a brief term as General Manager of the South LATAM Region and, shortly after, he was appointed Director for the whole region. During his term, he helped Amadeus grow its business both on its IT and Distribution business lines.
In 2010, he graduated the General Management Program at Harvard Business School.
In 2013, Decius became Vice President of Distribution Marketing. He was responsible for the strategic planning and marketing strategy for all customer segments of Amadeus’ Distribution business, including airlines, travel agencies and other service providers.
In January 2017, Decius was appointed Vice President of Travel Channels EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) responsible for growing the business in one of the more consolidated regions for Amadeus. Under the Travel Channels umbrella, Decius implemented a more customer focused organization, leading the creation of a global segment dedicated to Retail Travel Agencies.
In June 2017, Decius became President of Travel Channels to support customers (retail, online, business travel agencies and corporations) grow their business with Amadeus.
During three successful years in this role, Valmorbida grew Amadeus’ Distribution business and oversaw the deployment of the Amadeus Travel Platform which includes all the content and technologies travel sellers need.
In 2020, Decius began to lead a new customer unit encompassing Airlines, Travel Channels and Airports to ensure our customer succeed in tomorrow’s travel world.
