The deadline for entries to the Amadeus ideas for travel competition closed this week, with an incredible 825 ideas to improve the future of travel submitted.
We are delighted and encouraged by the responses and buzz around the competition and its ideas which we believe provide new thinking for the industry.
Before the competition moves onto the next phase, during which the winners will be chosen and announced, I'd like to clarify how the winners will be chosen.
The overall winning idea, and recipient of the top €20,000 prize, will be selected by our judging panel who will convene this month. The judges are seeking an idea that is both innovative and feasible while able to positively change the travel experience without necessary being 'big' in terms of scope.
Five prizes of €2,000 will be awarded to the five most voted ideas. This "people's choice" element recognises the importance of travellers' opinions and comments and will reward the most popular choices from the community registered with the competition.
To be certain of fair play in judging the most popular ideas, we will be analysing the votes cast and removing any irregular votes from the competition to ensure that the most popular ideas prize winners are based on genuine voting alone.
The winner of the competition and most popular ideas will be announced in early June.
