Partnering for retail success in Istanbul: The Amadeus Airline Executive Summit 2019

Indeed, the gaze of the airline industry and its partners were on Istanbul for the 2019 edition of the Amadeus Airline Executive Summit. Together at the event, we continued a great journey towards retailing success, innovation through partnerships, and frictionless travel.

We know that consumer behaviors are changing. Technology continues to transform the way we interact with brands. Leading online retailers like Amazon offer simple, intuitive personalized customer centric experiences in how it services us. Travelers expect similar experiences and we are working hard to bring this to life for our airline partners through the Amadeus Airline Platform.It’s a simple, agile, and open platformthat will enable us to co-create with airlines from ideation to production to market in record time.

It’s clear that to succeed in this we need strong partnerships across the airline and technology industries. We are fostering an ecosystem of partners such as Celerityand Adobe,and today we were proud to announce the latest addition to our 20+ partners, Salesforce.Together with customers such as Finnair,and start-ups like Volantio,these all combine to build the strength of our ecosystem. What makes events like this one so special is that we get to hear directly from our airline partners in person. Korean Air’s Kenneth Chang,shared how it achieved the speed and agility they were looking for. Southwest’s Mary Whartoncommented on what the role of technology is in serving the needs of its customers. And Mert Dorman from Turkish Airlineselaborated on the continued growth of the airline.

Day two of the summit was all about creating memorable journeys for travelers. With this spirit in mind, we concluded a hackathon championshipthat challenged two of our airline partners to create impactful travel solutions and we heard from Southweston how airline scheduling breakthroughsare making journeys smoother. Istanbul is the kind of city that captures your imagination as the crossroads between two continents.
