The annexe was constructed in advance of the launch of our New Businesses portfolio and will also support the recent growth shown across our airline IT business.

At a cost of some 10 million Euros, and covering close to 1500 square metres, we are proud to formally open our new 'energy annexe' in Erding, Germany, on the site of our existing data centre, one of the largest civil centres in Europe.

The new building itself houses two separate elements for both cooling and energy provision which will roughly double the data centre's overall capability in this area. Specifically the annexe houses three new standalone diesel UPS generators and two new cooling machines. In tandem, the annexe will deliver a number of environmental gains, as our cooling and energy processes become more efficient.

We expect the new annexe to have a lifespan of approximately ten years, supporting our existing strategy of virtualising storage, servers, applications and cloud computing where relevant.

The Amadeus data centre was awarded the prestigious 'Energy-efficient Enterprise' certification by international organisation TüV Süd in 2010.
