Working under the Better Business Program, Virgin Australia is always looking for opportunities to optimise resources to not only deliver a premium product to our customers, but also to enable our people to go about their tasks to their best ability.

In 2015, the decision was made to move our load control operations to Amadeus Altéa Flight Management, to enhance the systems and technology our team members were already using and empower them with the best tools available for load control operations.

As an airline, we are always looking for ways to improve our performance and thankfully the Amadeus Altéa Flight Management product was able to deliver significant productivity gains.

This was illustrated by:

  • At least 85% increase in productivity for our load controllers during busy periods
  • Improved ramp efficiency as a result of the availability of dynamic information for our ramp leading hands
  • Fuel savings enabled by accurate targeted centre of gravity and accurate weight planning
  • Reduction of incident reporting when handling dangerous goods

As a business, we feel the system change was necessary, and one that benefitted our operations and flight planning efficiencies. As safety is our number one priority, we were pleased to find a product that could enable our teams with tools to execute their tasks, in a safe and cost effective way.

Our experience using Amadeus Altéa Flight Management as a standalone system has benefitted us as an operation, and we have enjoyed having Amadeus as a reliable and flexible partner, committed to meeting our needs in this space.
