This content is only available in this language.

But we won`t stop there: aside from expanding our route network, we also want to give the travel agency community the ability to fully book and customize the trips in their Amadeus environment.

German WingsWe’re proud to be one of Europe’s most successful and innovative low-cost carriers, having been one of the first airlines to introduce a mobile website, web check-in 72 hours prior to departure, and our unique BASIC, SMART and BEST Fares customized to every passenger’s need. Furthermore, we are also working on expanding our network tremendously beyond the 100 great destinations we currently fly to.

New travel options

We are delighted to announce that as of September 2014, our BASIC, SMART and BEST fares as well as all flight-related ancillary services will be bookable through Amadeus using the light ticketing functionalities, whereas before, only SMART and BEST fares were available using the full e-ticketing functionalities.

We understand though that for some bookings you will still have the need to use the full e-ticketing functionality and therefore the SMART and BEST fares (including their flexible options) will remain available for traditional e-ticketing functionalities.

Along with these content enhancements, we are happy to announce that we will half the fare differential for those ‘light tickets’ created on Amadeus in comparison to the fares published on our website.

We’ve done our best to create great travel options for all the different types of travelers out there. In the event that you weren’t aware yet of our full offerings, let me give you a brief summary:

  • BASIC: Budget fares which include the flight, hand luggage, miles. These cannot be combined with other airlines.
  • SMART: Standard fares, which includes the same benefits as the budget fare, as well as a range of the most important ancillary services, such as one item of checked luggage, an inflight snack and drink and a seat reservation.
  • BEST: The most comfortable, highest-value fare, which is aimed at business travelers in particular but also appeals to leisure travelers. It includes the flight and a wider range of ancillary services, such as two items of checked luggage, à-la-carte-Catering on board, preferred seating in the front rows with a free adjacent seat and priority ground services including lounge access.
  • Germanwings’ flexible fare options, SMART Flex

and BEST Flex, will also be available. They enable travelers to re-book or cancel flights free-of-charge, even at short notice.

And don’t forget that as of September, all will be available via Amadeus!
