Imagine that when you board your flight a boarding message is automatically sent to your hotel to alert them. The hotel automatically checks you in and a digital room key is dispatched to you. In doing so, you have dispensed with the mandatory hotel front desk interaction and can head straight to your room upon arrival.
This type of contactless travel experience - that was once considered a frill by the travel industry - has now become a necessity in the current COVID-19 context. And this is precisely the type of experience we create atJournera.
Travel companies should never forget that travelers don’t look forward to just a flight or a hotel room or a ride share. Rather, they think about entire journeys that are as smooth, productive and enriching as they can possibly be.
AtJournera , we link together all the various parts of those journeys to make them as frictionless for the traveler as possible.
A number of leading players in the U.S. travel industry, our home market, are already working with us. These include Hilton, InterContinental Hotels Group, Marriott, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, United Airlines and American Airlines to name a few.
Frictionless travel works when data is shared in a safe way. While data has never been scarce within the industry, companies have preferred to be very proprietary about it. We also need to handle them in accordance with local rules and travelers’ preferences. But as the urgency of contactless travel and offering a “whole journey” experience have accelerated, travel brands are quickly recognizing the value.
As data is published to the Journera platform, our algorithms match customers and trip components across different companies, delivering real-time insights to partners before, during and after a customer’s trip, informing travel providers of what's happening on their customer's trip while it's happening.
So, if a customer has booked a hotel far away from home, but they don’t have a flight reservation to get them there, airlines are in a position to communicate with the customer about convenient flight options. Or, if a customer’s trip changes - say a new component is booked or a disruption occurs – we can immediately communicate those events to their airline, hotel or ground transportation provider to adapt accordingly.
With travelers demanding contactless travel and enhanced social distancing norms, these initiatives are becoming 'must haves'. After all, who can deny the benefit today of your travel provider automatically dispatching a rideshare based on real-time flight information so you avoid waiting in crowds at the airport curb? Or, even delivering your bags straight to your hotel room so you don’t have to wait near a busy baggage carousel?
Our vision for making frictionless travel experiences a reality is closely connected to Amadeus' vision of taking friction out of travel and simplifying the traveler’s journey. And that's why we welcomed a recent investment from Amadeus Ventures. We are eager to work closely with the Amadeus’ team to contribute to their innovation strategy and bring benefit to all the travel providers that contribute to the traveler’s journey.

The wealth of insight and technical capability that we can leverage as a result of our relationship with Amadeus will help us as we develop new solutions, grow with new customers and expand to new geographies.
