2021 is proving to be the year of accelerating deployment for NDC around the world. At American Airlines, we have been working together with Amadeus over the last year to make enhanced content via NDC at scale a reality in the travel industry – ultimately benefitting all parties that buy and sell airline inventory.
2021 is proving to be the year of accelerating deployment forNDC around the world. At American Airlines, we have been working together with Amadeus over the last year to make enhanced content via NDC at scale a reality in the travel industry – ultimately benefitting all parties that buy and sell airline inventory..
We strengthened our partnership with Amadeus by making our NDC-enabled content globally available on theAmadeus Travel Platform . This new content equips travel sellers to select ancillary services such as preferred seats, checked in bags and Group 5 boarding privileges. This feature is now available to all travel sellers in Japan for American Airlines operated flights.
Our content will be fully integrated into the travel sellers’ usual booking environment viaAmadeus NDC-enabled solutions such as Amadeus Travel API (Web Services), Amadeus Selling Platform Connect and Amadeus cytric Travel & Expense. This will come with the critical servicing functionalities that travel agents need, such as the cancelation, void, refund, and modification of NDC bookings.
An example, a travel agency can offer a frequent business traveler at the time of booking, options such as Wi-Fi, lounge access or seat selection. Moreover, flight changes, cancellations, ancillary services selection, reporting, notification in case of involuntary changes, and other more complex servicing capabilities will be easier to handle with NDC. Even more important is the level of detail that NDC will be able to provide, especially at a time when travelling remains fluid.
NDC may only be one of many enablers in the larger vision of transforming travel retailing, but it is a critical one we need to deploy at scale to drive travel recovery.
On top of deploying NDC content for travel sellers in Japan, we are implementingAmadeus PNR claim , strengthening our relationship with Amadeus and accelerating to support with international travel recovery.
Amadeus PNR Claim will enable travel agencies to retrieve amend and service PNRs initially created in our airline’s main reservation system. This will give travel agencies in Japan full control of ticket fulfillment and servicing options, allowing for a more personalized level of customer service. When travel agents manage the PNR for ticket fulfilment, subsequent messages or changes from American Airlines will be updated in real time. This option offers richer content to all travel sellers.
We are happy to be working closely with Amadeus to transform our retailing capabilities to deliver a higher level of service to travelers, and new selling experiences for travel agencies in Japan.
