The pandemic has changed the way we work, shifted our expectations and created new forms of collaboration. It has challenged companies to rethink systems and processes and, more importantly, accelerate digital transformation.
Remember a time when we got out of bed, took a shower, put on freshly pressed clothes, fought through rush hour traffic or stood on a crowded train to sit in a building to work? It seems like a lifetime ago when there weren't many alternatives to this five-day-a-week routine.
The pandemic has changed the way we work, shifted our expectations, and created new forms of collaboration. It has challenged companies to rethink systems and processes and, more importantly, accelerate digital transformation.
Those who are late to reinvent how employees meet, collaborate and even travel, risk compromising social capital and losing talent. According toMicrosoft's 2021 Work Trend Index ,41% of the workforce was considering leaving their employer within the next year. Yes, 2022 is a pivotal time for businesses and their employees.
What can companies do now?
Next week at theGlobal Business Travel Association (GBTA) Convention ,Microsoft’s Travel Technology Manager Steve Clagg and I will discuss ways that companies can successfully attract, retain and engage talent by embracing new ways of working. We’ll explore questions we hear from our customers like, “What now?” “Where do we go from here?” “How can we prioritize travel to build relationships?” “What does ‘normal’ look like moving forward?”
Our companies have been working together since early 2021 toredefine the digital workplace for business travelers and will share thoughts on how travel can be a part of a business’ strategy.
The great regeneration
There has never been a better time to reimagine how we work and collaborate. As HR Exchanges calls it “The great regeneration” in response to the “The great resignation”, transforming work culture requires leaders to think beyond traditional strategies to engage workers, enable team performance and sustain employee connections.
Even though where and how we work looks different today, employees want similar experiences to fulfil their needs and help them perform their best. In a now digital-first environment, research
fromtClara’s white paper “How We Meet Matters”, tells us that employees desire face-to-face meetings and connections. Employers who invest in their workforce with travel for business and/or educational purposes are ultimately supporting an employee’s growth and
business objectives. It also gives employees a sense of value and motivation to do their best work.
I’m excited to attend GBTA and share more about how Amadeus and Microsoft are helping companies put employees at the heart of the future of the workplace. Join us on Tuesday, August 16 at 3:30pm PT in the Education Theater in the Expo Hall.
