Nani Angulo is Director of Sales & Marketing of Green Pepper Travel, a Spanish travel agency, that participated along with other SMEs in the first edition of Travel4Impact, an Amadeus Corporate Social Responsibility project that supports travel and tourism SMEs through the promotion of digitalization, collaboration and sustainability
The travel industry continues to evolve, and it must respond to the changing expectations of all stakeholders from the travel and tourism ecosystem and adapt to the new challenges that we face today worldwide towards a more resilient and sustainable planet. By working in partnership, we can build a renewed, more sustainable, and more resilient industry.Travel4Impact is an Amadeus project where collaboration is a key pillar for all participants, whether it’s an SME, IE University or one of the partners such as UNWTO, CEAV, ITH, Mesa del Turismo and Travel Advisors.
Green Pepper Travel
is one of the SMEs collaborating in the Travel4Impact network. This Spanish travel agency is a venture made up of a multidisciplinary team of travel lovers and experts of different cultures around the world. It is a regenerative tourism travel agency, we co-design trips off the beaten track, we show the places in an authentic and sensible way. We create trips that try to change people’s perspective and transform the traveler into the best version of themselves. Trips are completely tailor-made, giving all the importance to details and service, with personalized attention and focus on social responsibility and respect for nature and local communities, with the aim of fostering transformative human encounters that inspire and facilitate personal growth.
From Green Pepper Travel, we are aware of the environmental and social impact generated by tourism in the last decades, and the shift in travelers demand towards a more sustainable tourism. We have embraced a new path aiming to offer a more sustainable and responsible tourism towards the objectives of regenerative tourism. As such, at Green Pepper Travel we have been training for some time with world-renowned experts in regenerative tourism and the design of regenerative cultures, such as Anna Pollock and Daniel Wahl, as well as with major public and private institutions in leading countries for regenerative tourism, such as Costa Rica, Chile or Mexico.
1. What is regenerative tourism?
Regenerative tourism is a paradigm shift. The co-creation of regenerative cultures is a continuous process of community and location learning. Regenerative development does not seek to offer permanent solutions universally applicable to global problems; the focus is on enhancing our ability to co-create and transform ourselves in response to a changing context. Participation and inclusion are fundamental prerequisites; a regenerative future supports people, places, and cultures.
2. Sustainability and Tourism: it is time to act
Sustainability looks to avoid depleting natural resources in order to maintain an ecological balance. Unfortunately, this balance is no longer sufficient to sustain life on earth. We need to create regenerative destinations, reconcile with nature and see natural resources as a gift that life gives us and not as a purely economic good. The pandemic has shown us that nature can live without us, it can regenerate itself, but can we live without it?
The tourism industry has a fundamental role to play in changing the way people travel, making trips so that destinations flourish, counting on local people, preserving the identity of the territories, creating a circular economy and protecting natural environments. It is of vital importance we protect the health of the planet for the future of the human species and move towards tourism that is more responsible and respectful towards people and nature.
3. Green Pepper Travel’s experience within the Travel4Impact network
Travel4impact has enabled us to meet other players in the sector and share with them ideas, concerns and projects, walking together towards regeneration and digitalization. It has offered the opportunity to be part of a community of people and businesses with a similar mindset about the potential of regeneration and sustainability as part of our value proposition.
I would like to thank Amadeus and IE University for this experience and for this inspiring initiative. In addition, as the network is growing now with other European SMEs joining Travel4Impact, I am looking forward to collaborating with them in this second edition and seeing how the project evolves.
