We’re creating a more connected travel industry, underpinned by sustainability and long-term investor relations.
Amadeus and UNICEF have been partners since 2012 to help shape a better future for the world's most vulnerable children. This year we are proud to 'Go Blue' with UNICEF in celebration of World Children’s Day.
On this day we join with people around the world to call on world leaders to commit to the rights of every child and acknowledge that these rights are non-negotiable. We’ve answered UNICEF’s call to Go Blue for every child by doing or wearing something blue. This is a great opportunity to raise awareness for the millions of children who are underprivileged.
Our partnership with UNICEF has also resulted other positive projects.
Our Click for Change program has enabled travellers to make donations to UNICEF’s programs in education, child protection, emergencies and development, when they make a booking online. So far, we’ve been able to help raise over US $3 million for health and education programs for children along with our partners Finnair, Iberia, Almundo, and Avianca.
Another encouraging project is UNICEF’s open source platform Magic Box. Amadeus provides a global dataset that allows UNICEF to understand the trends of international travel and evaluate the spread of diseases. Magic Box has been used for epidemic response and combines different datasets like temperature, administrative boundaries, mobility, and population data, in order to map areas of potential risk by decision makers. So far, it’s been used for Ebola response in Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo as well as Zika, Chikungunya, and Dengue in Latin America.
Amadeus is honored to participate in #WorldChildrensDay and we are delighted to contribute with our own employees’ commitment to 'Go Blue' to support UNICEF in achieving a better future for children around the world.
