Travel and tourism have a huge role to play in the fight against climate change. We are proud to work with the UN in this fight by signing the Climate Neutral Now Pledge. This solidifies Amadeus’ commitment to the Paris Agreement and becoming climate neutral by the second half of the 21st century through the following:

amadeus commits

  • Measuring and reporting greenhouse gas emissions
  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions as much as possible
  • Offsetting remaining emissions with UN Certified Emission Reductions (CERs)

Being climate neutral benefits not only the environment. In many cases carbon-offset projects contribute to modernisation of infrastructure in developing countries, boosting economic development and job creation, among other benefits.

We acknowledge environmental sustainabilityis a key issue for the long term success of our industry and we need to address it accordingly. Entering into the UN Climate Neutral Pledgeis a commitment in this direction. We need also to work together with other industry players to achieve overall carbon neutrality.

Raising awareness amongst millions of travellers, implementing technological solutions that improve environmental performance, and using carbon offset options are some ways through which the industry can help achieve the targets of the Paris Climate Change Agreement.
