Each edition of this conference sees an even greater mix of attendee profiles from hotels and event & hospitality venues. Attendees have travelled from as far away as Sydney, Australia to be here and it’s definitely worth it: as delegates from Las Vegas’ leading casino properties explained to me “every year we leave this conference simply knowing how to do our jobs better”.
This week some 200 customers, partners and colleagues from across the hospitality industry have checked into Newmarket International’s 2014 Customer Conference which is taking place as I write in Dallas, Texas. Following Amadeus’ acquisition of Newmarket in December 2013, I was excited to meet customers and partners at one of the busiest and buzziest events on the hospitality calendar.
For the Newmarket team this is an event which is all about their customers. Encapsulated in the theme ‘Your story is our story’ the event is all about sharing stories that are inspiring and insightful. And sharing intelligence and information for customers to be able to tell even better stories this time next year.
For inspiration, during the opening keynote Newmarket Senior Executives encouraged delegates to keep moving forward through growth and change as Amadeus-Newmarket togethercan help everyone across the industry dream bigger. Delegates heard how combining industry knowledge and advanced technology with unique data and an open philosophy, we can deliver truly intelligent platforms which open up endless possibilities.
To see the power of intelligent platforms in action, leading Newmarket product strategists and technologists presented innovations designed to alleviate common frustrations, enable more efficient ways of working and drive customer satisfaction; all of which allow each and every one of Newmarket’s hospitality customers continue to deliver a differentiated experience to their guests.
Kimpton Hotels & Resortsshared how Newmarket’s DirectBook solution allows them to target meeting planners outside of the ‘traditional’ segment like the organizers of family reunions and bachelor parties! And Sage Hospitality Groupexplained how their sales teams can now work 100% off their mobiles and tablets thanks to Newmarket Delphi’s real and ready mobile capabilities.
Newmarket has a solid ‘Open’ philosophy and many developments are enabled through industry partnerships. Business leaders Leslie Tom, Vice President Partner Marketing at Salesforce.com and Paula Paravecchio, US Industry Director, Retail, CG and Travel of Microsoft, joined the dialogue to share their vision for the hospitality industry and their perspectives on ‘what’s next?’ and ’what’s after the cloud?. This was followed by the big picture on trends shaping the industry by guest speaker Henry Harteveldt, Travel Industry Analyst and Founder of Atmosphere Research.
To close day one delegate joined the 'Newmarket Gives Back' initiative in support of Feed 3,a Dallas-based organization which aims to eradicate childhood hunger in Dallas County.
Armed with inspiration and insights, delegates are ready to get to work. Over the next two days there are a whopping 50 breakout sessions to choose from for participants to grow knowledge and expertise on a range of business and technology topics. And personally I am looking forward to hearing many more stories from some of Newmarket’s vast customer base.
